Tara Anderson, LCSW, is a psychotherapist and psychoanalyst in private practice in New York City. She holds a Master of Social Work from New York University and completed 6-years of post-graduate study in Psychoanalysis at the Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Study Center. She also received her RIE Foundations certificate and continues study groups around early child development and effective parenting approaches with young children.
Prior to starting her practice, Tara worked in Community Mental Health. She treated people with schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders in a recovery based model, and worked at a program for individuals recovering from addiction as well as mental illness. While there, she developed and facilitated therapy groups for formerly incarcerated men, and served as the chief curriculum developer for all clinical and psycho-educational groups.
Tara sees adults and adolescents in psychotherapy and psychoanalysis. She has a diverse clientele and treats a broad range of issues, in particular those around depression, anxiety, grief, spirituality, trauma, sexuality, self-esteem, stress management and creative blockage. She has a sub-specialty seeing parents of young children. Her office is in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
